Hi guys! It's Didi here! Sorry for the long wait but I'm back with a new book review! Today I will be reviewing "That Thing About Bollywood" by Supriya Kelkar.
Summary
Eleven-year-old Sonali's life has been turned upside down. Sonali’s parents don’t get along, and it looks like they might be separating, something that rarely occurs within South Asian families. Sonali’s little brother, Ronak, is not taking the news well, constantly showing how sad he is. Sonali would never dare do that. It’s embarrassing to show how you feel, letting the world see that you're not okay. But when Somali wakes up one morning, everything is completely different! Her reality has shifted! Things seem more colorful and brighter, almost too bright. Her parents have had drastic Bollywood makeovers. People, including her, are breaking out into song and dance. And somehow, everyone is acting as if the world was always this way. Sonali knows something has gone wrong, and she suspects it has something to do with her own mishandled emotions. Can she figure it out before it’s too late?

This story was really intriguing and I greatly enjoyed it! I loved seeing Sonali's character grow throughout this book. This book had hilarious scenes that had me laughing out loud! The book also has some sad parts, so prepare yourself for some tears. The characters were multidimensional, with so much depth to them. This book was exceptional!
Dislikes
I didn't really like Sonali’s character, before and after her character development. Some of her character qualities irritated me, but that was more of a personal thing to me than a real flaw.
Overall
This book was excellent, with multidimensional characters, an intriguing storyline, and a great mixture of comedy and seriousness. I would definitely rate this book a 9.5/10. I would recommend to all readers who enjoy diverse, multicultural books.

Thank you for writing these reviews! I love to have another person's opinion about a book before I start reading! And, I highly recommend "The Girl Who Drank the Moon" by Kelly Barnhill. I would appreciate if you did a review!
