Hi guys! It's Didi here and today I will be reviewing the book, 'The Giver' by Lois Lowry.

Summary

The Giver, the book that won the 1994 Newbery Medal, has become one of the most dominant novels of our time. The unforgettable story centers on twelve-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly perfect, if colorless, world of comparability and satisfaction. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his delicate community.

The Good

I really liked this book! It was amazing and so deep. When I read it, I got lost in the book and felt like I was standing right there watching everything happen. It was THAT good! There were so many heartfelt moments in the book and one of my favorite lines in the book was, "The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared." I think this book is really good and I was deeply astonished.

The Bad

The movie. I know that this is supposed to be a book review but in my opinion the movie was the worst part. It barely had anything similar to the book. The movie was similar to most of the movies of this century having elements of romance and an action scene that wasn't even in the book! The movie wasn't even half as good as the book.

Overall

This book was a really good book. I think this book works for all ages. I wouldn't recommend the movie but I do recommend the book. I would rate this book a 10/10. I definitely recommend this book to my readers who are ages 9 and older!

If you have anymore book recommendations please put them in the comments and maybe they will appear in my next post! I hope you enjoyed this book review! TTFN!
