'Crush' by Svetlana Chmakova

Hi! It's Didi here! And today I will be reviewing the book 'Crush' by Svetlana Chmakova.

Summary

This story is being told from the perspective of Jorge Ruiz. Jorge seems to have a pretty good middle school life so far. He's large enough that nobody really bothers him, but he's also a genuinely kind and sweet guy with a firm, dependable group of friends. The only time he ever really feels off his game is when he comes across a special girl (at least to him).. But when his best friends get into a fight, Jorge is caught in the middle and not sure whose side he should be on. That is all I will say for now. Likes

I liked SO many things about this book. It was really interesting. Unlike the last book that I reviewed, 'More to the Story', Crush was a fun book that didn't have as much drama and problems in it. I enjoyed it but in a different way from More to the Story. Crush had elements that would make any kid laugh out out, but also scenes that would make you feel sad. I went through a lot of different emotions while reading this. I really liked this book and found it funny. I laughed after reading it. One of my favorite things about this book was that Jorge could be a bully if he wanted too, but instead he uses his size to help people who ARE being bullied!

Dislikes

The only thing that I didn't like about this book was how they portrayed some characters to have many emotions that contradict with each other. Like how Olivia, who is supposed to be a strong willed character, is sometimes shown as a hopeless romantic and is shown obsessing over Jorge's love life. I don't understand how a strong willed character could also be so obsessed with romance so much. But maybe that was Svetlana's plan for the book.

Overall

My rating is definitely a 9/10 because I found it funny and romantic at the same time but it had a few flaws. I definitely recommend this book to all my readers!
